The aim of the bachelor's degree is to prepare competent and innovative professionals with a humanistic approach, for the effective teaching of the English language in public and private educational institutions, as well as in companies and organizations of the public and private sectors.
The graduates in English Language Teaching are able to work in the fields of English language teaching, curriculum development and educational administration at the different levels (basic, upper secondary and higher education), as well as in the design of programs and training in the English language, both in public and private organizations and institutions.
The program is characterized by being flexible, based on a credit system with mandatory, elective and free subjects. Its minimum duration is six semesters and a maximum of 16 semesters depending on the possibilities and interests of the student. Depending on the conditions and interests of each student, it is possible to strengthen their graduation profile by carrying out intra and inter-institutional student mobility, as well as national and international mobility. Professional social service and internship are included into the curriculum.
Additionally, during their training period, students can participate in a series of complementary activities to strengthen their language proficiency, while providing them with authentic learning scenarios through programs such as “Two Languages: One World”, “Storytelling. “Conversation Cafe”, “LEII Academic Fest”, “LEII Academic Talks”, “Spelling Bee”.
In 2013 it was certified, as a high quality program by the Committee for the Evaluation of Pedagogy and Education Programs (CEPPE), and in 2018 it was re-certified.
Objective
Fully train competent professionals in the strategic and successful solution of educational problems in the fields of teaching, curriculum development, and educational administration, based on the complete mastery of language as well as the mastery of theory, practice and research in the educational sciences, within a framework of quality, innovation, ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development, in local, national and international contexts.
Enrollment Profile
This program is aimed at upper middle level graduates who have a vocational interest in teaching the English language. In accordance with the academic, social and cultural needs that the applicant must possess and based on the graduation profile of the current high school curriculum of the Autonomous University of Yucatan, as well as the General High School graduation profile expressed in the Comprehensive Reform of Higher Middle Education, the entry profile for the Bachelor's Degree in Education is described below:

* They understands scientific and literary text to improve their oral and written communication.

Graduation Requirements
* To have covered all credits of the undergraduate curriculum (320 credits minimum).
* To have concluded the social service based on the provisions of the Regulations of the Social Service of the Autonomous University of Yucatan.
* To comply with one of the degree options, established in the Curriculum.
* To cover the administrative degree requirements established by the Autonomous University of Yucatan and the Faculty of Education.
* All other requirements established in the Regulations of Registrations and Examinations of the Autonomous University of Yucatan.
